I attended John Woolman High School here in Nevada City, on Jones Bar Road, back in the late 60’s. The campus is owned and operated by Quakers. After a 44-year absence, I decided to return to Nevada County. I’m glad I did.
I founded the Nevada City Portrait Photography studio as a community-based, not-for-profit enterprise in January 2017.
My approach to photography is driven by my passion to see the beauty in people just as they are: unabashed; honest; human. Everyone qualifies.
Jay currently shoots portraits with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera using a Canon 50mm f1.2 lens and a Canon 70-200mm zoom lens. He uses both natural and studio lighting.
